intimate summer wedding at A New Leaf | Chicago, IL

When I first visited Michele + Jason's wedding venue, I could hardly wait for their wedding to arrive! The garden courtyard at A New Leaf was perfect for the small wedding ceremony, followed by a Chinese tea ceremony to honor Michele's heritage. Afterward, everyone dined and partied in the amazing brick-lined industrial loft space.

There were so many personal touches throughout the day: from "something old," a piece of Michele's baby blanket tied into her bouquet; the family Chinese tea set used for the ceremony; tiny tines of tea that served as escort cards for dinner; the book that the couple read to one another during the ceremony.

The most touching moment of the day was the beautiful tea ceremony, where the couple's parents and other family gave gifts to them, as the couple served them tea. I was choked up when Michele's parents layered gold necklaces around her neck, given by her grandparents when she was born, to gift on her wedding day.

One of the things I love about photographing small weddings is being able to witness all the love between the couple's friends and family, and this wedding was no exception. It was truly one of the most special and fun weddings I've been to in a long time!

I hope you enjoy the images from this beautiful wedding as much as we had capturing them!
