Who to Hire for Your Brand Photoshoot

Who to Hire for Your Brand Photoshoot: The support team that can make your brand photoshoot feel less overwhelming

Planning a brand photoshoot is not just about choosing a date, picking a location, and hoping your favorite blazer still fits.

There are a lot of moving pieces that go into creating photos that feel aligned with your brand and actually useful for your website, marketing, and social media. And while you absolutely do not need a giant production team to have a successful brand session, the right support can make the entire experience feel easier.

This is why I love helping my clients think through who they may want to bring into the process. Because sometimes the right vendor makes it feel so much simpler.

Hair and makeup can change the whole energy of the day

The right hair and makeup artist helps you look camera-ready while still feeling like yourself. They know how makeup translates on camera, how to make hair hold up through outfit changes, and how to help you feel a little more taken care of before you step in front of the lens.

Honestly, that matters — especially if being photographed already brings up a little bit of overthinking.

When you’re not rushing around trying to curl your hair in bad bathroom lighting or wondering if your eye shadow is too much or not enough, you get to start the session feeling more grounded and prepared.

And that energy definitely shows up in the photos.

A wardrobe stylist can help your outfits do their job

Wardrobe is one of the places where people tend to spiral before a brand shoot. Especially if you want:

  • To look like yourself, but elevated
  • Variety, but not chaos
  • Your outfits to feel on-brand, but not like you’re looking like a “professional woman with laptop”

This is where a wardrobe stylist can be so helpful.

A good stylist can help you choose pieces that support your brand, photograph well, and make sense for how you actually want to be seen. They can help you work with what you already own, fill in gaps when needed, and avoid the last-minute panic purchase pile.

Because the goal is not to show up with every cute thing in your closet — it’s to wear clothing that helps tell the right story.

A content creator squeezes more out of your shoot day

If you book me for a full Signature Brand Session, I do create a limited number of B-roll video. But if you want lots of behind-the-scenes clips, short-form video, Reels, TikToks, or casual content from your brand session, a content creator is a great addition.

My main job on shoot day is to photograph you strategically and intentionally. I’m watching the light, the posing, the storylines, the shot list, the outfits, the location flow, and the details we planned ahead of time.

A content creator gets to focus fully on the in-between moments: the movement, the energy, the process, and the personality that can be so fun to share later. And it’s a great opportunity to grab these things while your fully styled for your shoot.

A web designer: support your brand photos with your website in mind

If you’re planning a new website or website refresh, a web designer can be one of the most helpful people to bring into the brand shoot conversation.

A good web designer can help identify what your site actually needs before the session: hero images, horizontal images, detail shots, images with negative space for text, section backgrounds, personality photos, process images, and all the little visual pieces that make a website feel complete.

This is also why I love knowing when a client is working with a designer before their shoot. That way we can make sure to get those images that your designer needs for that final layout, instead of creating a gallery of beautiful photos and then hoping they fit later.

Because the photos from your brand session are not just images. They’re marketing and website assets designed to support your message, your client experience, and brand you’re building.

So if a website update is on your radar, it’s worth thinking about before your brand session. Your future website will thank you.

You don’t need everyone, but you may need the right someone

Some clients only book hair and makeup. Others bring in a stylist because wardrobe is where they feel stuck. Often my clients want a content creator because they know they’ll use the behind-the-scenes footage everywhere.

Some hire all of them because they know it will help them relax and enjoy the process.

The point is to support the places where you know you’d feel better with help.

That’s exactly why I created my Vendors I Love page.

I wanted to make it easy to find the people I love working with and confidently refer to my clients. If you’re planning a brand photoshoot in Chicago or the surrounding suburbs, this is a great place to start.
